During this Fulbright-HRB Scholarship scheduled for summer 2021, he will visit Dr Emi Shimizu in Rutger’s University, New Jersey for 3 months to investigate potential novel reparative roles for matrix metalloproteinase 13, a tissue-endopeptidase that is highly expressed in dental tissue during development and repair processes. The overarching aim of the award is to establish mutually-beneficial research collaborations between the U.S. and Ireland focused on the development of next-generation targeted therapeutic solutions for deep decay and vital pulp treatment.
